World Class Comprehensive Cancer Care will soon be Readily Available Right Here at McLaren Bay Region!
"Cancer is a word, not a sentence." – Author Unknown
More than one million people each year are diagnosed with cancer, some of whom live right here in our local Bay community. A cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming . . . physically, mentally, financially and emotionally. Often times, cancer patients feel that they need to seek treatment outside of their local area because they want access to the top oncology programs in the nation. And who can blame them?
Last month, the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute and McLaren Health Care signed an agreement that will create the largest cancer research and provider network in Michigan and expand access to advanced cancer care in Detroit and communities throughout the state.
Including right here at McLaren Bay Region!
The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and one of 41 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the United States.
In the first quarter of 2014, McLaren Bay Region will begin construction of a 30,000 square foot comprehensive cancer center to be located on our West Campus. Our Cancer Center here in Bay City will have access to the Karmanos system and will directly impact patients at McLaren Bay Region in the following manners:
