Jamie Kitchen

Jamie Kitchen: Jamie Kitchen started his career in 1991 as a fire department explorer. During this time he took his EMT program through Emergency Medical Consultants in Brighton, MI. Once in EMS he felt the desire to continue his education. He attended the paramedic program at McLaren Flint Medical Center graduating in 1996. Jamie then went to Livingston County EMS and was there for 10 years serving in the roles of Field Training Officer and Shift Coordinator. Jamie soon figured out being a medic just wasn’t enough, so he decided to start teaching. In 1998 Jamie graduated from the EMS IC program at McLaren and has been teaching EMT and Paramedic courses ever since. Jamie has served as a Reserve Police Officer and is currently a Firefighter with Fenton City Fire Department.

Jamie also took advantage of the Mott Community College Graduate Paramedic Associates Degree and earned his Bachelors Degree in Public Safety Administration.  Currently, Jamie is pursuing a Masters Degree in Public Administration.  Jamie is the McLaren Flint EMS Program Coordinator and he also teaches ACLS, PALS, PTHLS and PEPP programs.  Jamie can be reached by phone (810) 342-2257 or Email at  jamie.kitchen@mclaren.org.


John Dugay

EMS Educator
John Dugay:  John started his career in EMS in 1998 graduating from McLaren’s EMT program and going to work for a local ambulance service in the Flint area. He then moved to Livingston County EMS where he worked as a Paramedic, Field Trainer and Part-time shift Coordinator. John also works as a special event medic for a Detroit company enabling him to be on hand for events such as The North American International Auto Show, Michigan State Fair, Super Bowl and Detroit Winter Fest along with many other concerts and music festivals. John is also a firefighter, MFFTC Instructor and Hazardous Materials Technician. He has always enjoyed instructing, teaching his first CPR class in 1986 while serving in the United States Air Force. He has been teaching EMS for several years and started at McLaren in 2004 as a part-time instructor. He then accepted a full-time position in 2007, where he still serves as an EMS educator and heads the Industrial Continuing Education program. This widely diverse background gives John the ability to relate the subject matter in ways his students can understand.

In his off time, John and his wife are avid motorcyclists and enjoy taking long trips. They have been to the Sturgis Rally in South Dakota, Daytona Beach Rally in Florida and to the Harley Davidson 105th Anniversary in Milwaukee.

John used his paramedic certification and converted it into college credits at Mott Community College to get his Associates Degree and then went on to obtain his Bachelors Degree of Applied Science and is currently working on a Medic-to-RN degree.
