Michael Kia, D.O.
Michael Kia, D.O., Medical Director

Michael Kia, D.O., is a board certified general surgeon with fellowship training in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery from the University of Texas in Houston. Dr. Kia specializes in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery. He is the only fellowship-trained robotic general surgeon in Michigan. Dr. Kia received his medical degree from Touro University in San Francisco, and he completed his training in general surgery through Michigan State University.

Harris Dabideen, M.D.
Harris Dabideen, M.D.

Harris Dabideen, M.D., is board certified in both general surgery and critical care surgery with special expertise in bariatric surgery. Dr. Dabideen received his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland and completed his internship and surgical residence at Hurley Medical Center in Flint.

Nicole Franklin, Psy.D.
Nicole Franklin, Psy.D., Assistant Medical Director

Nicole Franklin, Psy.D., provides psychological support to bariatric patients before and after their surgery. She also conducts the psychological evaluations to determine whether someone is a suitable candidate for surgery. Dr. Franklin is a graduate of Wright State University School of Professional Psychology in Dayton, Ohio. She completed fellowship training in psychology with the McLaren Family Practice Residency.

Koteswararao Vemuri, M.D. Internal Medicine, received his medical degree from Rangaraya Medical College in India. He completed a residency in internal medicine at McLaren Flint.

Tanya Brooks, FNP
Tanya Brooks, FNP

Tanya Brooks, FNP, is a certified bariatric nurse through the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. To become a certified bariatric nurse, she had to fulfill at least two years as a bariatric nurse and pass a certification exam. Tanya has been a Family Nurse Practitioner for three years. She graduated from University of Michigan Flint 2010. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwestern Oklahoma State University and a graduate of Hurley School of Nursing.

Denise Maginity, R.D.
Denise Maginity, RD

Denise Maginity, RD, is a registered dietitian with over 10 years experience with medical weight loss programs. As Coordinator of McLaren's Bariatric Institute, she provides nutrition education to clients as well as oversees the day to day operations of the clinic. Denise is a graduate of Michigan State University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Nutrition. Denise enjoys working with the bariatric surgery clients and being a part of their new and exciting experiences before and after surgery.
