Support

McLaren Flint Cancer Support Staff

An extended team of support is available for patients with cancer. Beyond those that provide treatment, there are resources to aid in the healing and recovery process. A registered dietician is available to counsel patients on nutrition during and after treatment. A social worker can provide patients with assistance in addressing any special needs that arise with a cancer diagnosis. Patients and caregivers can request a meeting with the dietician or social worker by calling the radiation oncology front desk at (810) 342-3800.

American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society (ACS) is a source of support and information. An ACS volunteer staffs a dedicated patient resource area at Karmanos Cancer Institute-Flint. The patient resource area includes print materials and online resources. Additional programs coordinated through the ACS provide helpful services to receive support during treatment such as Road to Recovery, where ACS volunteers provide patient transportation to and from treatment; Reach for Recovery mentoring and support program, and the Look Good Feel Better beauty and emotional healing program.

Transportation
Transportation services may be available for patients to receive treatment at no cost. The American Cancer Society provides rides to and from Karmanos Cancer Institute for several patients Monday through Friday. Please call our friendly office staff at 810.342.3800 for more information.
