Course Description:
Prehospital Trauma Life Support(PHTLS) is recognized around the world as the leading continuing education program for prehospital emergency trauma care.  PHTLS promotes excellence in trauma patient management through global education of all providers involved in the delivery of prehospital care.  PHTLS is developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma(ACS-COT).

PHTLS courses improve the quality of trauma care, decrease mortality. The PHTLS's philosophy, stress:

  • Treatment of multi-system trauma patient as a unique entity.

  • Nontraditional approach to trauma patient treatment modalities.

  • Critical thinking as the foundation for providing quality care.

  • An understanding of the physiology and kinematics of injury.

  • Understanding and using rapid assessment of the trauma patient.

  • Advancing Provider's examination and diagnostic skills.

  • Scenario Based Training with a focus on:

  • Airway Management

  • Breathing Management

  • Circulation Management

  • Disability Management

  • Multisystem Trauma Management

Course Length:
Full Program: 16 hours (approximately)
Recertification: 9 hours (approximately)
