Trauma Services

Trauma is an injury to the body, often severe enough to require transport by ambulance. When people find themselves in this situation, there's no time to waste. Fortunately, McLaren’s trauma center is available to ensure the best possible outcomes when a life-threatening or otherwise time-sensitive emergency arises. Our elite trauma staff work is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to serve our community.

ACS Verified Trauma Centers are required to:

  • Maintain a well-coordinated trauma team and provide ongoing education and professional development for the staff
  • Provide immediate access to diagnostic tests and equipment to allow physicians to make rapid decisions regarding appropriate care
  • Conduct injury prevention workshops and offer prevention and safety information to the surrounding communities
  • Maintain a trauma registry
  • Continuously review procedures to improve efficiency and ensure that trauma patients receive the specialized care they need and deserve

Trauma Services at McLaren Flint

McLaren Flint is a verified trauma center which is an accreditation given by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). Specially trained emergency physicians and nurses triage each trauma patient in order to provide focused care. Six board certified trauma surgeons participate in the assessment and surgical care of these patients. The Medical Center's three trauma bays, located inside of the Emergency Department, are well-equipped with the latest technology available to facilitate the evaluation, diagnoses, and treatment of these critically injured patients.
