Lansing, Mich. — Nearly 400 donors and friends of McLaren Greater Lansing Healthcare Foundation “toured the world” on Saturday at the Country Club of Lansing during the 2016 Annual Gala Passport to the World. With the help of sponsors like DeGarA PLLC, PNC Bank, The Wendorf Family, Capital Area Anesthesia PC, and MSU Federal Credit Union the world travel-themed event raised more than $200,000 in cash and inkind donations for the Emergency Department, Oncology Services, and areas of greatest need at McLaren Greater Lansing.
Kellie Dean, from Dean Transportation/Dean Trailways, served as Honorary Chair for the 2016 Annual Gala. Co-chairs of the event were Rick Wendorf, PhD, and Thomas W. Conroy, CCM, CCE.
“This year’s gala was completely sold out two weeks prior to the event, it is rewarding to be a part of a community that is so generous and supportive,” said Scott Stewart, chair of McLaren Greater Lansing Healthcare Foundation’s board of trustees. “It was nice to see so many local leaders here tonight to celebrate our Legacy Award winners and another great year at McLaren Greater Lansing.”
Six physicians were also recognized during the event. The 2016 Legacy Award honorees are Kurt Carter, MD, Vascular Surgery; C. Mohan Gera, MD, Internal Medicine, Pulmonology, Sleep Disorder; Gauresh Kashyap, MD, Internal Medicine, Pulmonology; George Kleiber, MD, FACC, Cardiology; Herbert E. Ross, DO, Orthopedic Surgery; and James Zito, MD, Vascular Surgery.
“The award recipients are experts in their field and devoted to the highest quality of healthcare. We could not have written McLaren Greater Lansing’s history of excellence without physicians like those recognized,” said Tom Mee, RN, BSN, MBA, president and CEO of McLaren Greater Lansing.
