OVERVIEW OF ROTATIONS DURING RESIDENCY

First year The PGY-1 (CBY) Anesthesiology rotations are based on the ACGME requirements.

Second Year:

All PGY-2 (CA-1) residents will complete a four (4) week rotation in ICU, OB Anesthesiology, Acute Pain. Two (2) week rotations are required in Pre-Op and PACU. The remainder of the year is dedicated to a wide variety of General and Orthopedic Anesthesiology.

Third Year:

The PGY-3 (CA-2) residents will include exposure in the subspecialty areas in the management of anesthesia. The remainder of the year is dedicated to training in a wide variety of surgical and diagnostic procedures. These shall include but not limited to:

Pediatric Anesthesia – Detroit Medical Center

Neuroanesthesia – Spectrum (Grand Rapids)

Pain Management – Comprehensive Pain Management (Saginaw)

1 month

Cardiovascular – Sparrow Hospital (Lansing)

2 month

Fourth Year:

The PGY-4 (CA-3) residents will be assigned the more complex anesthesia procedures of the most seriously ill patients with multiple system disease along with the following subspecialty areas:

Neuroanesthesia – Spectrum (Grand Rapids)

Anesthesiologists led critical care (Grand Rapids)

2 months

Obstetric Anesthesia – MGL

1 month

Regional Anesthesia – MGL

1 month
