Greater Lansing - General Surgery GME

The purpose of McLaren Greater Lansing’s five-year General Surgery Residency Program is to provide training which will enable a Resident who completes this program to render full care to anyone with conditions which fall within the purview of practice in general surgery.

The residency program is designed to provide an educational experience in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions through surgery. The basic principle of this program is to provide a progressive experience to the Resident and increasing responsibility given to him/her over the course of the training program. No amount of assisting is a substitute for primary surgical experience and a progressive/supervised experience will be provided to the Resident in training. This program offers exposure to high volume and broad range of surgical cases including GI, oncologic advanced laparoscopy, endocrine, vascular, critical care and trauma. Each Resident averages 400-450 major cases per year with diverse scope and variety.
