About Us

Endoscopy uses a tool called an endoscope to examine the inside of the body. An endoscope is a thin, tube-like instrument with a light and a lens for viewing. It may also have a tool to remove tissue to be checked for signs of disease. There may be other instruments on the endoscope as well. For example, there might be a probe at the end of the endoscope that bounces high-energy sound waves off internal organs.

Endoscopy is considered a minimally invasive medical procedure, according to the National Institutes of Health. It can be used to diagnose and/or treat a number of conditions.

Some common procedures that use endoscopy include:

  • Arthroscopy
  • Bronchoscopy
  • Colonoscopy
  • Cystoscopy
  • Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
  • Laparoscopy
  • Rhinoscopy / Nasoscopy
  • Upper GI endoscopy (Esophagogastroduodenoscopy)
  • Ureteroscopy
