Mission Statement

The mission of the Osteopathic National Center for Orthopedic Research (ONCOR) is to create a dynamic orthopedic translational research center. ONCOR will integrally link leading musculoskeletal researchers with the savviest clinicians at McLaren Greater Lansing Orthopedic Hospital. The scientist/clinician partnership at ONCOR will expedite research in discovering the best applications of, improvements to, and innovations for the latest orthopedic technologies that are being developed to impact tomorrow's orthopedic patient care. ONCOR will do this through combined basic research and clinical trials that carefully select the best implants, the finest biomaterials, and cutting edge pharmaceuticals to develop their place in the most comprehensive and efficient form of musculoskeletal patient care in the world. ONCOR provides world leaders in research, surgery, and residency training with a rich and proud tradition at McLaren Greater Lansing Orthopedic Hospital to work with industry engineers to meet all the challenges of 21st century orthopedics. ONCOR is officially recognized as the national leader for orthopedic research by the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (AOAO).

Vision Statement

The vision of the Osteopathic National Center for Orthopedic Research (ONCOR) is that of a vitally productive, mutually supportive, non-profit research center for the purpose of distinguishing the role of osteopathic medicine in orthopedic surgery, solidifying the reputation for innovative orthopedic healthcare, and realizing the tremendous potential existing among the surrounding musculoskeletal research community. McLaren Orthopedic Hospital will become the single most recognized orthopedic program in the State of Michigan, serving the entire Great Lakes region as one of the nation's leaders in orthopedic patient care and research. The scientist/clinician partnership at ONCOR will expedite research in discovering the best applications of, improvements to, and innovations for the latest orthopedic technologies that are being developed to impact tomorrow's orthopedic patient care.

ONCOR will provide direction for the ongoing development of osteopathic medicine and orthopedic surgery in America into the 21st Century. Through its leadership in the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (AOAO), ONCOR will develop a new professional chapter among the international orthopedic research societies.
