Emergency Department physicians, nurses, technicians and support staff provide around-the-clock coverage and urgent treatment. Our dedicated team is prepared to care for both minor and severe injuries and illnesses as quickly as possible.

Emergency Care at McLaren Lapeer Region

Over 30,000 patient visits are made annually to the McLaren Lapeer Region Emergency Department. Our emergency department physicians are board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine and the department's emergency-trained Registered Nurses (RN's), are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Curriculum (TNCC) and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC). Several members of our nursing team have trained even further to achieve the elite Certified Emergency Nursing (CEN) status.

So, whether you experience a heart attack, stroke, a car accident or other trauma, or a just a minor emergency, we are close to home and ready to serve you. In the event of an emergency, Lapeer County residents should call 911 for emergency medical services (EMS) assistance.

Treatment

The hospital's 24-hour clinical laboratory, accredited by the American College of Pathologists (CAP), and our echocardiography and cardiopulmonary services are available to help diagnose and assess trauma and conditions such as heart attack and stroke.

McLaren Lapeer Region is well equipped to care for orthopedic injuries. The hospital's orthopedic surgeons are among the finest in the area. The Emergency Center is equipped with a casting room for treatment of broken bones and the hospital's five-suite surgery department is available, if needed.

Upon treatment in Emergency, patients are either discharged to home with follow up instructions, if needed, or to the hospital if further acute care is required. McLaren Lapeer Region nursing units include: intensive/coronary care (ICCU); progressive care (PCU); medical/surgical and transitional care (TCU).
