Injury Prevention Outreach Programs at McLaren Lapeer Region

At McLaren Lapeer Region, we go beyond treatment of injuries and trauma. We work to prevent injuries through community outreach to schools, agencies and businesses. Our injury prevention education programs include:

  • Distracted driving (with the use of a driving simulator)
  • Fall prevention in the elderly
  • Bicycle helmet safety for children

If you consume alcohol, know the limit. If your blood alcohol content is .08 percent or greater, it is a crime to operate a motor vehicle. And doing so puts you and other people at risk. In Lapeer County alone, there were 498 arrests for driving under the influence and 93 alcohol-related crashes in 2014.

So how do you know how much is too much? The simple fact is there is no easy answer. Many factors impact the blood alcohol content in your system including how fast alcohol is consumed, food eaten before drinking, family history, physical health, and even age.
