Annual Mount Clemens races to benefit Care House of Macomb County and Macomb Food Program

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich.—Returning for its seventh year, the McLaren Let’s Move Festival of Races has become a spring staple event for downtown Mount Clemens, an unofficial start to local outdoor health and fitness events. Organized by the Macomb Health and Fitness Foundation, the day’s events feature runs and activities for all ages and skill levels.

Motivated to get everyone healthy and living an active lifestyle, the 2017 event will be held on Saturday, April 29 beginning at 8 a.m. with the half marathon beginning at 9 a.m. Following it will be the starting times for The Better Half 10K (9:20 a.m.), Oakland University 5K (9:40 a.m.) and Buffalo Wild Wings 1 Mile Run (11 a.m.).

“Our goal is always to create a day that doesn’t just promote health and activity, but to live it in a fun and lively environment,” said Bob Busquaert, director of the Let’s Move Festival of Races. “Now in our seventh year, I would say we’ve established this event to achieve those goals and I’m confident in the promise that we’re continuing this tradition in 2017.”

The day’s health-centric activities will be rounded out by fitness experts leading warm-up exercises and offering practical fitness instruction all in a family-friendly and fun atmosphere.

“There really will be something for everyone,” Busquaert said.

Aimed at also giving back to the community, proceeds from the day’s festivities will be donated to the Macomb Food Program (mca.macombgov.org/MCA-ES-Food) and Care House of Macomb County (mccarehouse.org), both of which provide critical services to the families of Macomb County.
