Published on Friday, August 12, 2016
Dr. Kurtis Kieleszewski MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich.—Kurtis Kieleszewski, DO, has been named medical director of the McLaren Macomb Athletic Medicine Institute (AMI). The sports medicine program of McLaren Macomb, the 288-bed acute care hospital in Mount Clemens, AMI specializes in the treatment, testing and preventative care of sports-related injuries and conditions.

As director, Dr. Kieleszewski, a family medicine physician at the office of Dr. Albert Przybylski in Clinton Township, will work with McLaren Macomb administrators to design, implement and manage a comprehensive sports medicine program.

“I’ve always had an interest in sports medicine and how it ties into family medicine as so many of our children and youth participate in sports,” he said. “The same goes for their parents or other adults who continue to stay active and perhaps even compete on a regular basis. Any part I can play in preparing them for their activity and helping keep them on the field is a responsibility I look forward to. I’m excited at this opportunity and enthusiastic for the good we can do.”

Additionally, Dr. Kieleszewski will serve as the sports medicine medical director for the Fraser School District, providing event coverage at various sporting events, teaching the staff about related topics and act as AMI’s community liaison.

“I was very excited to hear that Dr. Kieleszewski has taken on this new position with the Athletic Medicine Institute,” said Michael Mulcahy, MPT, director of rehabilitation services. “Dr. Kieleszewski is very passionate and knowledgeable in the area of sports medicine practice and I look forward to working closely with him and I’m confident we can help even more athletes recover from injury and return quickly to their sport.”

Before working toward his medical degree at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Kieleszewski earned his undergraduate from Wayne State University, where he spent four seasons patrolling the outfield for the Warriors’ baseball team.
