McLaren Macomb receives 3-year accreditation from The Joint Commission

Published on Wednesday, March 09, 2016

McLaren Macomb, the 288-bed Mount Clemens-based hospital, earned a 3-year accreditation from The Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization that evaluates, accredits and certifies health care organizations and programs throughout the United States. The mission of The Joint Commission is to “continuously improve health care for the public” by “evaluating health care and inspiring them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value.”

Trained health care professionals from The Joint Commission made multiple site visits to McLaren Macomb to thoroughly survey and evaluate its staff and care professionals. Patient safety and the quality of care provided are the primary criteria by which the surveyors measure and evaluate each location.

“The accreditation from The Joint Commission is the validation of the hard work of many and is an achievement shared with all of our dedicated staff,” said Chris Candela, chief operating officer at McLaren Macomb. “While the accreditation is an accomplishment, it confirms the high level of care our facility provides daily to all of our patients.”

McLaren Macomb has met the standards set by The Joint Commission and in an official letter were informed that the hospital was granted accreditation for all its services effective January 9, 2016 and valid for 36 months.

“Our clinical and support staff offers excellent care across many service lines and our community knows we are here to serve them,” Candela said. “This accreditation will further add to their confidence knowing they are in good and ever-capable hands.”
