AHA Instructor Course

The steps for becoming an American Heart Association Basic Life Support Instructor:

  1. Complete an Instructor Candidate Application when enrolling in this Instructor Course. .
  2. Have current AHA provider status in the discipline of the Instructor Course, and be proficient in all the skills of that discipline. Disciplines include ACLS, BLS, PALS, PEARS® and Heartsaver®. 
  3. Create an account on the AHA Instructor Network, Here, and chose to align with McLaren Flint as their training center.
  4. Complete the online course “BLS Instructor Update” on the AHA Instructor network
  5. Successfully complete the discipline-specific classroom Instructor Course (THAT IS THIS CLASS).  Click here for a list of classes and to register.
  6. Successfully be monitored teaching your first course within six months after completing the Instructor Course. Training Center Coordinators may require additional monitoring. Required for completion card

Course Length: 8 hours (approximately)

Course Requirements: Must have current Provider Card for the Discipline (copy of cards required with registration)
