Huron Medical Center Pursuing Letter of Intent to Join McLaren Health Care

Huron Medical Center’s Board of Trustees has announced that it will pursue an exclusive Letter of Intent to become a part of McLaren Health Care, one of Michigan’s largest integrated health systems.  This announcement comes as a result of months of negotiations with several Michigan hospital systems. It is expected that the Letter of Intent will be completed within the next several weeks. Huron Medical Center’s transition to a wholly owned subsidiary of McLaren Health Care is anticipated to be finalized within three to six months.

The plan to join another hospital system comes as a result of Huron Medical Center’s goal to expand services to the community.  This includes providing improved access to primary care doctors as well as specialists. Huron Medical Center, a 58-bed, acute care hospital in Bad Axe, serves residents of Huron, Sanilac and Tuscola Counties.

“Providing the best possible health care opportunities for our community is critical to our hospital’s mission,” noted William Mayes, CEO of Huron Medical Center. “We look forward to offering the best in expanded health care for our citizens through this relationship with McLaren Health Care.”

“McLaren shares a common vision with Huron Medical Center to improve access to high quality clinical services and to maximize retention of patients in communities served by the hospital and its physicians,” noted Philip Incarnati, President and CEO of McLaren Health Care. “As a McLaren subsidiary, Huron Medical Center will be a strong strategic fit as the key provider of services in McLaren’s thumb area alignment and growth network.  We look forward to working with the hospital’s administration, board and physician leadership in moving this relationship forward and building upon the strong foundation they have already established in this region.”
