McLaren Port Huron will hold the fall prevention program A Matter of Balance. This eight-session class takes place Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 2 – 25, 10 a.m. – noon, at Marwood Nursing and Rehab, 1300 Beard Street, Port Huron.
A Matter of Balance in an evidence-based program designed to benefit older adults who:
• Are concerned about falls
• Have fallen in the past
• Restrict activities because of fear of falling
• Are interested in improving flexibility, balance and strength
Participants learn to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals for increasing activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and use exercise to increase strength and balance.
This program is free. Participants must attend all eight sessions
