Beacon Society

Lighting the Way

The Beacon Society was founded by the Special Gifts committee of McLaren Port Huron Foundation in 1991 to recognize individuals for their generous contributions to some of the hospital's areas of greatest need. The Beacon Society is a giving club with a minimum commitment of $10,000 over a 10 year period.

Just as a lighthouse beacon provides sound guidance and direction for shipping, the Beacon Society lights the way for excellence in the health of our community. Gifts made through the Society have funded a variety of projects and programs, including:

  • Open Heart Equipment
  • Emergency Center Equipment
  • Mobile X-Ray Machine
  • Nursing Scholarships
  • Miriam F. Acheson Family Birth Place
  • Pneumonia Vaccines for Inpatient Seniors
  • CPR Awareness Day
  • Components of the Prescription for Progress
  • John F. Wismer Health Center
  • Childbirth Education
  • HealthAccess Information Line
  • Cardiac C
  • Surgical Services
  • Outpatient Services
  • Mammography Suite at Wismer Health Center
  • Digital Mammography at Women's Wellness Place
  • Community Education Programs

  • Members of the Beacon Society promote health, life and hope - a rare and valuable gift. In appreciation, McLaren Port Huron Foundation accords special recognition to the Society's members; as a member, you will be featured on a permanent recognition display located in the main lobby of the hospital, and will be recognized in hospital newsletters and other publications. In addition, Beacon members are accorded special invitations to significant functions and events in the life of McLaren Port Huron throughout the year.
