High school graduates earn college scholarships through Grads Giving Back

Port Huron, MI – Two local high school graduates earned a $1,000 scholarship to the college of their choice through the Grads Giving Back contest, sponsored by McLaren Port Huron and RadioFirst. Graduating seniors from Blue Water area high schools submitted photos which demonstrated their volunteerism in the community to RadioFirst stations WPHM, WBTI, Rock 105.5, and WSAQ. Winners were determined by public vote.

Sydney Hilbrandt, a graduate of Port Huron Northern, volunteers for the Cystic Fibrosis walk. Hilbrandt will attend Michigan State University in the fall to study environmental engineering.

Rachelle Wendt, a graduate of Port Huron High, volunteers at the Marysville Challenger Baseball program. Wendt will attend University of Michgian in the fall to study science leading into a pre-med focus.

Hilbrandt and Wendt were congratulated by McLaren Port Huron President & CEO Jennifer Montgomery, and interviewed on RadioFirst stations WBTI, WPHM and WSAQ.
