Types of Cancer
Proton therapy is the most precise form of radiation treatment available today. The delivery is so targeted with less scatter than conventional radiation that it is able to destroy the primary tumor site, while leaving the surrounding healthy tissue and organs unharmed. It is non-invasive and painless. This allows for the patient to maintain their usual activities during treatment. Because of these attributes, proton therapy has been deemed a highly effective treatment for a wide range of localized tumors. McLaren Proton Therapy Center will treat conditions including, but not limited to:
Brain and Skull Base Cancers
Chordoma
Esophageal Cancer
Head and Neck Cancer
Liver Cancer
Lung Cancer
Lymphoma
Pediatric Cancers
Prostate Cancer
Sarcomas
The National Cancer Institute www.cancer.gov provides educational information, including characteristics and treatment statistics, for these and other forms of cancer.
