Becoming a Volunteer

Becoming a Volunteer

If you have decided to share your time to assist patients and help others at McLaren Bay Region, your next step is to complete an online application.

Once your application is received, we will review current volunteer openings and determine if any align with your interests and availabilities. We will contact you if there is a match. If a match is not identified, we will keep your application on file for six months.

If a match is identified, you will be contacted for an interview. We will check the references listed on your application and conduct a background check. If you are selected to be a volunteer at McLaren Bay Region, you will need to:

  • Be 15 years of age or older and have a completed volunteer consent form (persons under 17 years of age must have a working permit).
  • Be in good physical and mental health without communicable health conditions.
  • Have documentation of a negative TB skin test completed within the previous 12 months or we will provide testing.
  • Have documentation of receipt of the current annual seasonal Flu Vaccine for October through March of the current year (excluding summer months May-September).

Once you have been cleared through this initial process, the next steps will be to complete the hospital orientation and obtain an identification badge and any special apparel or uniform required for you position. We will make sure you are oriented to our organization and receive appropriate training for your assignment.

Please complete the Volunteer Application and confidentiality, authorization, and release forms.

Thank you for your interest in McLaren Bay Region. We look forward to your helping our organization! If you need more information about volunteering at McLaren Bay Region, please contact the Volunteer Office at (989) 894-3540, email or by fax (989) 891-8156.
