McLaren Caro Region Earns Industry’s Top Pharmacy Quality and Safety Endorsement

Published on Wednesday, November 08, 2017

McLaren Caro Region, formerly Caro Community Hospital, is excited to announce its achievement of Accreditation by the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB), a service of the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC), for the services of patient specific sterile compounding. The accreditation is awarded in recognition of McLaren Caro Region's commitment to meeting and exceeding national quality standards.

Achieving accreditation is a process where healthcare organizations demonstrate compliance with national standards. PCAB accreditation reflects an organization’s dedication and commitment to meeting standards that facilitate a higher level of performance and patient care.

“McLaren Caro Region's inpatient pharmacy is committed to excellence. This accreditation demonstrates we are safely making products that will be delivered to patients.” said Leonard Warren, Director of Pharmacy. The accreditation is good for three years.

Established in 2007, PCAB was founded by eight of the nation’s leading pharmacy organizations to create voluntary quality accreditation designation for the compounding industry. The organization promotes, develops, and maintains principles, policies, and standards for improving the quality of pharmacy compounding nationwide. In 2014, PCAB accreditation became a service of Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC), whereby ACHC administers the PCAB accreditation program.
