Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Donations Being Accepted

McLaren hospitals across the state are accepting designated supplies from businesses, community partners and individuals in preparation for potential shortages as the number of coronavirus patients in Michigan continues to grow. While currently McLaren hospitals and clinics have needed supplies to care for patients with COVID-19, McLaren is planning ahead in seeking the community's assistance in donating the following items:

What to donate (new or unused)

  • Disposable face masks
  • N95 masks, sometimes called respirators
  • Eye protection including face shields and safety goggles
  • Wipes: bleach or antimicrobial
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Disposable gowns
  • Disposable gloves, especially powder-free non-latex
  • Disposable foot covers and surgical caps
  • Powered air-purifying respirators (PAPR) hoods

Homemade fabric face masks

Some McLaren locations are accepting donations of homemade fabric face masks. Locations that are accepting homemade masks will be noted below. * For the safety of our colleagues and patients, please follow these guidelines:

McLaren Bay Region

McLaren Bay Region is accepting donations of the following most-needed personal protective equipment:

  • Disposable face masks
  • N95 respirators
  • Eye protection (including face shields and safety goggles)
  • Disposable gloves (especially non-latex)
  • Disposable surgical caps
  • Antimicrobial wipes
  • Hand sanitizer
While we appreciate that donors may want to donate other supplies, we’re asking only for these certain high-priority items at this time.

Community members will be able to drop off donations at the McLaren Bay Region marketing building located at:

Drop offs will be accepted from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. This is the only location where COVID-19 donations will be accepted at this time.

McLaren Caro Region

McLaren Flint

McLaren Flint is currently accepting the following new/unused items:
  • Disposable face masks
  • N95 masks, sometimes called respirators
  • Eye protection including face shields and safety goggles
  • Disposable gowns
  • Non-latex disposable gloves
  • Wipes: bleach or antimicrobial
  • Hand sanitizer

Donations may be dropped off Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Those wishing to make a monetary gift in support of needs for nurses, physicians and patients of McLaren Flint can visit mclaren.org/flintfoundation and donate to the McLaren Flint Urgent Action Fund.

McLaren Greater Lansing

McLaren Greater Lansing is currently accepting the following new/unused items:

We are collecting PPE donations through the McLaren Greater Lansing Foundation. Drop-offs can be scheduled by calling (517) 975-7100 and are accepted Monday - Friday between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.

McLaren Lapeer Region

McLaren Lapeer Region currently has the equipment needed to protect staff as they care for patients with COVID-19. With the rising number of COVID-19 patients in Michigan, we are accepting donated supplies now to prepare for future needs to protect our staff and community.

McLaren Northern Michigan

To safeguard our medical staff, employees and patients, McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation is seeking community donations of:

  • New, unused masks (including construction grade)
      • N95 masks
      • Isolation/Surgical masks
  • Cloth, homemade facemasks based on new CDC Guidelines
  • Medical grade gloves
  • Sanitizing wipes with an alcohol content of 60% or more
  • Non-contact forehead thermometers
  • Other personal protective equipment on a case by case basis. Contact the Foundation at (231) 487-3500 with questions.

As of April 21, 2020, we are accepting donations of home-sewn masks. Following new CDC guidelines, McLaren Northern Michigan will provide homemade facemasks donated by community members to patients and their caregivers when they are discharged from the hospital, as well as to patients at outpatient clinics and McLaren Home Care & Hospice. Donated facemasks will also be provided to staff for use in the community. The cloth facemasks do not replace surgical masks or N-95 respirators and will not be used in patient care areas. Facemasks will be commercially laundered before being distributed.

Please call the Foundation at 231-487-3500 to arrange a drop off time for your donation. Donations will be accepted in Petoskey and Cheboygan. DO NOT bring your donations directly to the hospital or emergency departments – we are restricting visitors at this time.

McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation also established the Emergency Response Fund to ensure that the hospital has the resources and flexibility to meet critical and emerging needs in times of crisis. Gifts to the McLaren Northern Michigan Emergency Response Fund will provide local support for:

  • The purchase of masks, gowns, gloves and other essential personal protective equipment required to ensure the health and safety of our healthcare team
  • Medical supplies and equipment for the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, or other clinical areas as a result of high demand
  • Patient assistance
  • Programs, services, staff education, and other critical needs that develop during a health-related crisis

McLaren Port Huron

Due to the generosity of so many community members in recent weeks, McLaren Port Huron no longer needs homemade fabric masks. Homemade masks can be donated to the St. Clair County Emergency Operations Center.

We also have an adequate supply of other PPE essentials, including surgical masks, goggles, gowns, gloves, and N95 masks. However, we would sill welcome more N95 masks. An appointment must be made to drop-off these items. To schedule a time, please call 810-989-3444.

 

Food Donations

While we appreciate the generous food donations, please consider the local schools and food pantries to assist those who are most in need. To protect our health care workers, we can ONLY accept food donations that are individually wrapped and non-perishable. We are unable to accept any liquids.
