McLaren Pursues Neuroscience Research

Published on Friday, October 28, 2016

Dr. Aniel Majjhoo, interventional neurologist, is a principal investigator for the STRATIS clinical registry, which refers to the Systematic Evaluation of Patients Treated with Neurothrombectomy Devices for Acute Ischemic Stroke (STRATIS).

The purpose of this research registry is to assess outcomes associated with the use of devices intended to restore blood flow in patients experiencing acute ischemic stroke due to a large intracranial vessel occlusion. McLaren Flint and McLaren Macomb are among 60 sites across the country chosen to participate in the STRATIS registry. Nationally, 1,000 patients are being enrolled in the trial.

As McLaren pursues additional research opportunities in the neuroscience arena, plans are underway to develop a neuroscience research council across all McLaren sites.

The goal is to gain participation from neurosurgeons, neurologists, and other physicians across the McLaren system in order to be involved in the latest medicines and devices for the benefit of patients.
