Outstanding Diagnostic Imaging Services

McLaren Lapeer Region offers an array of specialized and accurate diagnostic imaging technologies.

treadmill stress test

Cardiac Stress Testing -

Stress Lab performs testing that provides information about how your heart works during physical activity.  Patients are referred for stress testing to determine the cause, risk assessment and outlook associated with various formed of heart disease.  Patients will be instructed to walk on a treadmill while wearing an external cardiac monitoring device which will record the data.  For patients that are unable to physically exercise, a medication can be given to increase the heart rate similarly to exercise.  Monitoring devices that are to be worn for a full day while at home during normal life activities are set up and then evaluated in the stress lab.

Non-Invasive Cardiology -

Non-Invasive Cardiology focuses on the detection and treatment of heart disease using a specialized form of sonography known as an echocardiogram. Echocardiograms or Echo for short, provide the doctors with a moving picture of the heart muscle and the valves located within it. Patients with a history of heart disease, suspected valve disease or chest pain with unknown cause may be referred by their physician for a non-invasive evaluation.

mammography

3D Mammography -

Tomosynthesis 3D imaging, also known as 3D mammography, is a screening and diagnostic tool designed for early detection of breast cancer. The system produces images that represent thin slices of the breast, allowing radiologists to view slices 1 millimeter at a time. The technology can create both 3D images and standard 2D images.

Interventional Radiology -

A specialized field within radiology where the Radiologist performs minimally invasive surgical procedures through small incisions in the body using radiological image guidance.  Interventional radiology procedures can be less expensive, less risky, less painful and require shorter recovery times than traditional surgeries.

Ultrasound -

An ultrasound exam, or sonogram, is a safe and generally non-invasive procedure that utilizes high-frequency sound waves to image an internal body structure. During an examination, ultrasound provides a full-motion view inside the body, showing images of soft tissue, muscles, blood vessels, the heart, and other organs.

mri images

Nuclear Medicine Imaging -

Nuclear Medicine imaging uses small amounts of radioactive isotopes that are injected, inhaled or swallowed. These isotopes then travel through the body and give off energy in the form of gamma rays which are detectable by our specialized camera and computer system. This data provides unique information on the functionality of your bodies organs and helps to identify diseases in its earliest stages.

Ambient Experience MRI

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) -

Our Ambient Experience MRI creates a relaxing experience while shortening scan times, providing unparalleled imaging quality, and allowing increased weight limits. The suite is one of only a handful in the entire state of Michigan. Click the following link for an inside look at this new MRI experience: https://youtu.be/amgk0Y1OUBU

Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a diagnostic imaging method using a strong magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of the organs and tissues within the body. It does not use radiation and is able to view any structure in the body which makes it effective for evaluating the spine, breast, and brain.

Breast MRI -

An MRI of the breast is ordered by a primary care physician if a traditional screening such as a mammogram or ultrasound come back with unclear results. Breast MRI can also be used to diagnose and evaluate breast cancer, and to look for other abnormalities of the breast.

CT scan

CT Scan (Computed Tomography) -

Using state-of-the-art technology, CT scans are very detailed imaging tests that show cross-sectional images of the body and details of all tissues including organs, bones, blood vessels and muscles. For this reason, they are often used for a variety of medical conditions including certain types of cancer, abdominal issues/conditions, and heart disease.

Low-Dose CT Lung Cancer Screening -

Using state-of-the-art technology, low-dose CT scans expose patients to less radiation compared to traditional CT scanners for our physicians to determine if there are signs of early lung cancer. As lung cancer is most treatable in the early stages, with these screenings we can detect lung cancer quicker, possibly even before the patient’s experience symptoms.

x-ray

X-Ray -

An X-ray (radiograph) is an exam that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions and is the oldest form of medical imaging.

DEXA bone scan

Prevent Osteoporosis - DEXA Bone Density Scan -

Bone densitometry, also called dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry, DEXA or DXA, uses a very small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the body (usually the lower (or lumbar) spine and hips) to measure bone loss. It's the most common method for diagnosing osteoporosis and to assess an individual's risk for developing osteoporotic fractures. DXA is simple, quick and noninvasive.

Student Cardiac Arrest Prevention -

Anthony Herbert Memorial Student Heart Check - The Anthony Herbert Memorial Student Heart Check is an ongoing program for Lapeer County students between the ages of 13 and 17, providing more than 500 cardiac screenings each year.

The noninvasive screening takes 15 to 20 minutes and includes a brief family medical history questionnaire, electrocardiogram (EKG) and 2D echocardiogram. Results of the screening will be reviewed by our expert staff and highly experienced cardiologists. The screening takes a comprehensive focus on the heart that a normal sports physical would not offer. It checks for potentially dangerous heart ailments that may raise a student’s risk of sudden cardiac arrest. The ongoing program will offer appointments Monday through Friday at a variety of times for your convenience.
