Joining the McLaren Family Medicine team this month is Leslie Yocom RN, LCE, who specializes in lactation education and consultation services. Now offering out-patient lactation education and support, individuals can schedule an appointment with McLaren Family Medicine for one-on-one support with Leslie.
Appointments can be made prior to delivery to learn more about breastfeeding, discuss expectations, and to receive breastfeeding support. Post-delivery services include support with latching, positioning, comfort, breast assessment, oral assessment of the baby, pre- and post-feeding weights, feeding observation, individualized care plan, and referrals as needed.
Individuals are encouraged to bring their breast pump for support with proper fitting, correct flange sizing, suction regulation, and comfort.
Follow up services are available for an updated care plan, weight checks, feeding observation, addressing any new concerns, an individualized return to work care plan, breast milk storage education, maintaining milk supply education and plan, and/or to follow up on referrals. Help can even be offered with weaning your infant.
