Health Care Reform Resources Marketplace Resources 

One of the biggest components of the Affordable Care Act, the Health Insurance Marketplace, recently opened to the public.  

On Oct. 1, open enrollment began for the Michigan’s new health insurance marketplace and the Healthy Michigan plan. The marketplace offers dozens of competitive plans to individuals making between $11,490 and $45,960 a year and offer a range of prices and benefits. In addition, plans sold on the marketplace offer significant financial assistance to offset the cost of the premiums for consumers.  

Here are some resources to answer common question about the Health Insurance Marketplace:

  • The Healthy Michigan plan is available for uninsured adults making less than about $16,000 a year and offers comprehensive benefits with very low copays and little to no premiums.
  • Key Dates:
    • OPEN ENROLLMENT BEGINS OCT. 1.
    • COVERAGE CAN BEGIN JAN. 1.
    • OPEN ENROLLMENT CLOSES March 31.

 To apply, individuals can go online to www.healthcare.gov.
