Internal Medicine
Dr. Abbasi and his wife Farha have three daughters. His hobbies include reading, traveling and listening to music.
Internal Medicine

Dr. Ashraf Abdullah received his medical degree from Bhagalpur Medical College & Hospital, India in 1980. He maintained a private practice in Internal Medicine in Bihar, India for several years and served as Civil Assistant Surgeon in State Government. Dr. Abdullah began his U.S. medical training in 1989. He completed a Residency in Internal Medicine at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, NY and practiced as an Internist at the Port Richey Medical Center, Port Richey, FL. Dr. Abdullah came to the Lansing area in 1995, where he served as staff physician at the Blue Care Network Family Health Center. Dr. Abdullah received his American Board of Internal Medicine Certification in 1996 and Re-Certified in 2006.

Dr. Abdullah is married with two children. He enjoys tennis, gardening, and spending time with his family traveling.

Internal Medicine
Prior to moving to Lansing from California 10 years ago, Mary was involved with basic science research with a master’s degree in biochemistry. Her hobbies and interests include traveling and swimming. She has two sons.
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Edmond Ducommun received his Bachelor Degree in Psycho-Biology from the University of California at Los Angeles. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Guadalajara and completed his Fifth Pathway and Residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Nassau County Medical Center.

Dr. Ducommun is the Chairperson for the Rehabilitation Subcommittee for Operation Stroke (Mid-Michigan) through the American Heart Association.

Dr. Ducommun is married with three children.

Nurse Practitioner
Christy is an Adult Nurse Practitioner with a Master of Science in Nursing from Michigan State University. In addition to her experience in the clinical setting, she has also served a clinical instructor for nursing.
Nurse Practitioner
Lindsey Jenks is a board certified family medicine nurse practitioner serving the Lansing community.  She graduated from the University of Michigan Flint with her master degree in nursing.  Lindsey has experience with preventive care for all stages of life, diagnosis and management of chronic diseases, annual exams and testing, ensuring vaccinations are up to date and coordinating with specialty care as needed.  
Internal Medicine

Dr. Michelena practices medicine with emphasis on all the interrelationships of structure and function, and with appreciation of the body’s ability to heal itself. Because of this, she tries to incorporate osteopathic manipulative therapies with her patient interactions.

When not in the clinic or at the hospital, Dr. Michelena spends time with her family and her dogs while trying to squeeze in some salsa dancing in-between.

Family Medicine

Dr. Murthy received his medical degree from the Bangalore Medical College of Bangalore University, India. He worked as General and Orthopedic surgeon in the National Health Service Hospitals in the United Kingdom for 14 years. Dr. Murthy came to the U.S. in the early 1990's and completed a residency in Family Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident at the Western Reserve Care System in Youngstown, OH. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and a member of the American Association of Family Physicians and the American Medical Association. Dr. Murthy is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Michigan State University. Prior to joining Mid-Michgan Physicians, Dr. Murthy served as staff physician at Blue Care Network of Michigan.

Dr. Murthy is married and has two children. He enjoys gardening, tennis, spending time with his family, listening to classical music, traveling, and reading.

Family Medicine

Dr. Elmer Novis completed an internship and residency at Detroit Macomb Hospital, Detroit, MI. He served as a Primary Care Physician for the Port Huron Out-Patient Clinics in Port Huron, MI before moving to the Lansing area. Prior to joining MMP, Dr. Novis was employed by BCN/BCBS organization for 20 years. He is a member of the Michigan State Medical Society, the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Philippine American Medical Association of Michigan.

Dr. Novis is married and has two children. He loves jazz music, tennis, gardening, and to travel.

Internal Medicine

Dr. Syed is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and received his medical degree from Dow Medical College. He cleared both parts of his FMGEMS (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination in the Medical Sciences) and FLEX (Federal Licensing Examination) in the first attempt. He has worked in a fully accredited categorical Internal Medicine Residency program of the Trenton Affiliated Hospital – Helene Fuld Medical Center, which is a major affiliate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

Dr. Syed is married and has one child. He enjoys traveling, golf and music.

Internal Medicine, Urgent Care
Dr. Vander Jagt, a previous native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, moved to Lansing approximately 20 years ago. A graduate of MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine, he also completed a residency in Internal Medicine through MSU. Dr. Vander Jagt, an Associate Professor for the College of Osteopathic Medicine, remains active in the education and training of future physicians. In addition, he has recently completed the course work for a Masters degree in Health Care Administration at Central Michigan University. Dr. Vander Jagt has two sons - Joshua, who is attending college, and Zachary. His hobbies and interests include parenting, travel, woodworking, cycling and an occasional game of golf.
