Internal Medicine

Dr. Babar Ahmad received his medical degree from the Nishtar Medical College, Pakistan, in 1981. After practicing medicine for twelve years, between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, Dr. Ahmad came to the U.S. He completed his internship at the Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA (1993-’94), a Residency in Internal Medicine at Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI (1994-’95), and received his American Board of Internal Medicine Certification in 1996. He received his re-certification, Internal Medicine, in 2008.

Prior to joining MMP, Dr. Ahmad was an Internist with the Blue Care Network Family Health Center for over twelve years. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, and the Association of Pakistan Physicians of North America.

Dr. Ahmad is married and has three children. He enjoys playing tennis and photography.

Internal Medicine
Dr. Baukus is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Biochemistry and Psychology from Albion College in Albion, Michigan. Dr. Baukus completed a residency in Internal Medicine at McLaren Greater Lansing through Michigan State University. Prior to joining  McLaren Medical Group, She also served as a yoga instructor in East Lansing and was involved with several health-related volunteer programs.

Dr. Carella is a board certified Endocrinologist who specializes in thyroid disorders, metabolic problems, bone diseases and other hormonal disorders. He received his medical degree at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts and completed his internal medicine residency and endocrinology fellowship at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, a fellow of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and a member of the International Congress of Endocrinology and the American Diabetes Association. He is also the medical director of the Regional Diabetes Center in Lansing, Michigan. Dr. Carella is married with three daughters and enjoys running, sports and gardening.
Nurse Practitioner
Lillian Devito, NP-C, is a certified adult/gerontology nurse practitioner with experience in high quality nursing care. Mrs. Devito earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI in 2016 and is a member of the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association and Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners.

Dr. Grace Escamilla specializes in internal medicine and has experience with preventive care, diagnosis and management of chronic diseases, annual exams and testing, ensuring vaccinations are up to date, and coordinating with specialty care as needed.

Dr. Tabassum Aziz-Faruqi is a board certified, internal medicine specialist serving the Lansing area.  Dr. Aziz-Faruqi graduated from University of Karachi with her medical degree and went on to Michigan State University, The Aga Khan University Hospital for her residency training.  She has experience with preventive care for adults ages 18 and older, diagnosis and management of chronic diseases, annual exams and testing, ensuring vaccinations are up to date, and coordinating with specialty care as needed. 
Internal Medicine
Dr. Handro was Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2005. He attended medical school at Jimma University in Ethiopia. He finished his M.P.H. (Master of Public Health) in Epidemiology at Tulane University in Louisiana. Dr. Handro completed his medical residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois where he also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Handro is married to Amy, an R.N. at Sparrow Hospital.
Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Nurse Practitioner
Leanne Harker, FNP, is a certified family practice nurse practitioner with experience in family and internal medicine. Ms. Harker earned her Master of Nursing in Family Nurse Practitioner Studies from Michigan State University in 1987 and is an Adjunct Faculty Member for the Michigan State University College of Nursing. 
Family Medicine

Dr. Pabbathi received her medical degree through the NTR University of Health Science/India. During Dr. Pabbathi's time at the NTR University of Health Science, her research interest focused on Bone Health and Diabetes. Dr. Pabbathi completed her family medicine residency at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, MI. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians.

Having joined the Internal Medicine Associate division of MMP in October of 2010, Dr. Pabbathi provides care for patients 18 and above.

Internal Medicine

Dr. Ropp completed his Bachelor of Science degree in biology at the University of Nebraska and received the degree of Doctor of Medicine from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He did his Internal Medicine Residency at Michigan State University-associated hospitals, and received his American Board of Internal Medicine Certification in 1996 (Re-Certified 2006).

Dr. Ropp has worked as a hospitalist for several years, first at St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing, then in Albuquerque, New Mexico before joining MMP in August 2000. He has an office-based practice within MMP, but also sees patients regularly in the Okemos Health and Rehab Center and TenderCare West. Currently, he is the Medical Director at TenderCare West, Okemos Health and Rehab Center, and Sparrow Home Care.

Family Medicine

Dr. Varughese received his medical degree through the Gulf Medical University/Ajman, U.A.E. He completed his Family Medicine residency at Michigan State University/Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI. Dr. Varughese joined the Internal Medicine Associates division of MMP in July of 2011, where he is focusing on Adult Family Medicine.

Dr. Varughese is married and has a two year old son, Ryan. His wife is currently attending medical school. He enjoys a variety of outdoor activities and spending time with his family and friends.
