Cardiac Rehabilitation at McLaren Lapeer Region is a medically supervised program for individuals with cardiovascular disease (whether congenital or acquired). The primary goal of Cardiac Rehabilitation is to enable the individual to achieve their optimal level of physical, psychological, and social well-being.

Cardiac Rehabilitation can benefit those individuals with conditions or procedures such as:

  • Angina
  • Myocardial Infarction (Heart Attack)
  • Coronary artery bypass graft surgery (Bypass surgery)
  • Valve repair or replacement
  • Interventional procedures such as angioplasty or coronary stenting
  • Post heart transplant patients

Not all conditions are covered by insurance. Please check with your insurance for coverage and co-pay requirements.

Cardiac Rehabilitation is by physician referral and provides supervised exercise and education for individuals with cardiovascular disease or for those recovering from a cardiovascular procedure. McLaren Lapeer Region provides outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation in two phases.

Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation is an outpatient based service. This phase consists of medically supervised exercise sessions, including continuous ECG (electrocardiographic heart monitoring) and cardiac education classes. Participants typically attend three sessions per week.

Phase III Cardiac Rehabilitation is a maintenance exercise and education program for those completing Phase II, and desiring a convenient location with equipment for aerobic activity and supervision of a qualified staff for emergencies. These participants do not wear a heart monitor. This phase is generally not covered by insurance.

Smoking Cessation Clinics are available through the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at (810) 667-5675.
