Community Health Improvement Week: June 6-12

Health and Fitness, Latest News, Topics, What You Should Know

The American Hospital Association and the AHA Community Health Improvement (ACHI) has sponsored Community Health Improvement Week during the first week in June to celebrate and honor those working to improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities.

For more than 139 years, McLaren Port Huron remains committed to making a difference in the health of the communities we serve. As a 501c3 Charitable Hospital Organization, we conduct a triennial Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) to evaluate the health of our community and to identify health disparities. We work to address these needs by providing high-quality compassionate care, and through educational programs, health screenings, and community partnerships.

In the 2019 CHNA, McLaren Port Huron outlined several initiatives to address health and wellness, but the COVID-19 pandemic quickly shifted our focus. As we move toward recovery and rebuilding after the pandemic, we reflect on the disparities that surfaced as a result.  We learned new ways to connect with our community and continue to work with community partners to better serve our community.

Now more than ever, we know how important it is to advocate for our community. When a community is healthy, whether through healthy eating, staying active, having successful schools, clean air, or accessible parks, we will remain strong and able to face obstacles, too.
