Dr. Elmassian was Named Secretary of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA)

Kenneth Elmassian, DO, FASA, chairman, Department of Anesthesia, Perioperative and Surgical Services and director, Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesia at McLaren Greater Lansing was named secretary of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), the nation's largest organization of physician anesthesiologists last week. Dr. Elmassian assumed office at the ANESTHESIOLOGY® annual meeting in San Francisco and will serve for one year.

"It is truly an honor to serve in a leadership role in a medical specialty society dedicated to the advancement of patient safety," said Dr. Elmassian.
Dr. Elmassian has held numerous positions in the Society. He served as ASA assistant secretary and chair of the ASA Committee on Communications. Additionally, he has represented Michigan on the ASA Board of Directors since 2008.

As well as being a past president of the Michigan Society of Anesthesiologists, Dr. Elmassian has also held the offices of president of Michigan State Medical Society and the Ingham County Medical Society.

Dr. Elmassian, a board-certified anesthesiologist, received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University where he currently serves as a Clinical Professor. He completed his anesthesiology residency at Flint Osteopathic Hospital.
