Flu Season Isn't Over

Even though today is the first official day of spring, the flu Season is still here!

As you can see by the map it is widespread for the state of Michigan. McLaren Greater Lansing has had a resurgence of admissions related to influenza this past 2 weeks. It is not too late to get the influenza vaccine. This will  protect yourself, patients, and family members. Use the tips below to avoid getting the flu.

Here are some ways to avoid the flu:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Avoid close contact with sick people.
  • Get plenty of sleep and exercise, drink plenty of fluids, and eat health food.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • If you are sick, stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone without the use of fever-reducing medicine.
