McLaren/Walgreens DischargeRx

McLaren/Walgreens DischargeRx

McLaren has partnered with designated Walgreens locations beginning Nov. 7th, 2018 to continue easy access for our outpatient prescription needs.
** This service will replace McLaren's current DischargeRx program.

Convenience:
Help our patients expedite the time it takes to fill the prescriptions on their way home.
The partnership between McLaren and Walgreens will streamline any insurance related delays, prior authorizations, drugs not covered, and refills to ensure the patients receive the medications they need.

McLaren is currently working on providing Walgreens access to "read only" access to EMR. Please note, this access will not be available to Walgreens by Nov. 7th.
Your patients will have access to the Walgreens network that will allow them to fill their prescriptions on their way home and then have subsequent refills at their local Walgreens.
Please note that only select Walgreens location will have access to the Discharge Rx program. This however will not prevent you to work with a different location if your patient chooses to.
There are 2 Lansing locations that have dedicated fax lines for McLaren prescriptions. The prescriptions that are sent to these 2 locations will receive priority attention so that when the patient arrives their prescriptions will be ready.

Discharge Rx Description:
When a patient is admitted to your hospital, they will be offered the opportunity to participate in the DischargeRx program. McLaren case managers, prescribers, discharge nurses will all assist in this new process of sending prescriptions to the participating Walgreens locations listed below. These stores will have a designated stand-alone fax machine, and separate work flow only to serve the DischargeRx patients. The prescriptions faxed over will be given a high priority fill time as if your patient was waiting at the store. Please note that Control Schedule II (CII) need to be provided to the patient to bring to the same Walgreens location previously selected for the DischargeRx program, these will not have priority filling since the prescriptions cannot be filled from a faxed request.

What needs to be included with your DischargeRx prescriptions:
Always include a face sheet with unit/floor, room #, insurance information, and patient demographics, contact name and number for person (case manager, RN, etc.) faxing request.
McLaren/Walgreens will set up a tracking system to ensure the success of the program. This will be done with the information provided on the face sheet (unit/floor).
All CII's must have the attending physicians name and NPI.
