common illnesses

Each week, we ask our ER team what they’re seeing more and more of in our Emergency Department.

This week, Dr. Benjamin Doerr, an emergency physician at McLaren Macomb, reports:

After a couple of weeks of low volumes, the number of viral gastroenteritis cases have increased, with symptoms of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Upper respiratory infections

While there have been no confirmed cases of influenza, cases of upper respiratory infection and its symptoms of cough, congestion and runny noses have increased.

With the turn in weather, cold and wet conditions have led to many slip and fall injuries.
