common illnesses

Each week, we ask our ER team what they’re seeing more and more of in our Emergency Department.

This week, Dr. Evan Coyne, an emergency physician at McLaren Macomb, reports:

Upper respiratory infections

While there have been no confirmed cases of influenza, symptoms of upper respiratory infection mirror those of the flu with cough, congestion and runny noses.

Viral infections leading to gastroenteritis have caused symptoms of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Cold and wet weather conditions have resulted in many injuries from a slip and fall.
