Heart Care at its Best.
The Heart and Vascular Center at St. Luke’s Hospital, a comprehensive cardiac treatment center, offers the latest technological advances for coronary surgery. Our skilled and caring heart surgeons perform countless open-heart, conventional coronary artery bypass and valvular repair procedures every year.
Our heart surgery teams are experienced in performing an innovative surgery procedure called off-pump coronary artery bypass procedure (OPCAB), which allows surgeons to perform bypass surgery as the heart continues to beat. This means faster recovery for most patients.
Minimally Invasive Surgery Options
During minimally invasive heart surgery, surgeons perform heart surgery through small incisions in the right side of the chest, as an alternative to open-heart surgery.
In minimally invasive surgery, your heart surgeon may have a better view of some parts of your heart than in open-heart surgery. Like open surgery, some minimally invasive heart surgery procedures may require stopping your heart temporarily and diverting blood flow from your heart using a heart-lung bypass machine.
Minimally invasive heart surgery may be an option for treating a variety of heart conditions. Your cardiac surgeon will make the best recommendation for you.
