McLaren Health Care Names Roseann Carlsen Vice President of Corporate Laboratory Services

RoseAnn Carlsen, MBA, CLS (HEW), has been appointed vice president of corporate laboratory services for McLaren Health Care.

I am confident that she will be successful in driving the discipline and consistency that we need throughout all of the laboratories within the McLaren system.”

Responsibilities for the position include oversight and administration of McLaren’s corporate laboratory services which serves McLaren’s 14 hospital campuses across Michigan and an extensive outpatient program. Carlsen will coordinate the efforts of approximately 600 lab professionals across the McLaren enterprise as well as the technical and business initiatives of the 14 analytical lab locations.

Carlsen has served in leadership positions for more than 15 years and joins McLaren Health Care from Indiana University Health where she served as executive director of pathology laboratory. She also held management positions at Via Christi Health, Wichita, Kansas; Harris Health Services, Houston, Texas; Winona Health, Winona, Minnesota; Memorial Hermann Health Services, Houston, Texas; and Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Says Carlsen of the position, “My goal is to standardize processes and operations, improve productivity and efficiencies, and grow outreach business across the laboratories in the McLaren enterprise while building on the high-quality patient care provided.”

As laboratory director at various organizations, Carlsen led the creation of a consolidated core laboratory, collaborated with pharmacy, nursing, and IT leaders to implement positive patient identification and system-wide point-of-care protocols, and established or upgraded automation lines in chemistry, hematology and microbiology using LEAN tools and platforms.

Carlsen earned a Master of Business Administration from Ashford University, Bachelor of Science in business at Metropolitan University, and graduated from the Medical Institute of Minnesota with a degree in medical technology.

Carlsen is relocating from Indiana to Michigan and hopes to reside in Genesee County following her move. Her start date is Monday, March 9, 2020.
