Primary Care Provider Lance Edgerton, FNP, has joined the practice of Robert Allum, DO, and Carolyn Wiese, PA-C, at McLaren Northern Michigan Mitchell Park Family Medicine, located at 2390 Mitchell Park Drive, Suite D, in Petoskey.
For 11 years, Lance has worked at McLaren Northern Michigan. He started his health care career as a patient care technician on the medical/surgical unit, then a registered nurse on the same floor before being a nurse in the operating room for the past six years. When looking to practice as a FNP, Lance knew he and his wife wanted to raise their family in Northern Michigan. Lance added, “I have always considered Northern Michigan as home. After moving away for a short period of time out of high school I realized very quickly the beauty and simplicity of Northern Michigan. McLaren Northern Michigan supports and is supported by such a wonderful community of people.”
Lance’s interest in medicine started at a young age. “I watched my mom put herself through nursing school while working full-time and raising a family. It was while watching my mom study subjects like anatomy and physiology, chemistry, and pharmacology that I started developing an interest in healthcare,” expressed Lance. It was after working as a nurse for 8 years that Lance decided continue his education and attend Chamberlain University to receive his Masters in Nursing to be a Family Nurse Practitioner. “Studying medicine is a privilege, I chose to advance my career in medicine so that I could help people on another level.”
Being a medical provider for over a decade, Lance has a special interest in preventative medicine. “The most fulfilling experience as a medical provider is seeing my patients achieve optimal function and wellness. Life is a journey filled with ups and downs and it is my goal to assist my patients in keeping their minds and bodies as healthy as possible to enjoy life whatever that may look like for them,” stated Lance.
In his free time, Lance enjoys playing basketball, music production and camping with his wife Jenna, and three children Parker, Lincoln, and Lucas.
