For more than a decade, McLaren Greater Lansing has been packaging individual meals that were left over from mealtimes at the hospital and freezing them for the Greater Lansing Food Bank. In 2020, the hospital exceeded previous years’ donations and was able to provide more than 60,000 meals.

“This long-standing partnership with the Greater Lansing Food Bank is one of the many great ways we are able to give back to the community,” said John Whitlatch, director of Food and Nutritional Services at McLaren Greater Lansing.

The program is spearheaded by Doris Badgley, who is team lead, and Linda Lowendsberry, who is a cashier in the kitchen at the Pennsylvania campus. Badgley and Lowendsberry ensure that any leftover food products are packaged properly and frozen, and they coordinate the pick-ups with the Greater Lansing Food Bank.

“We are thankful for Doris and Linda, who have coordinated this donation for years, and all of our employees, who help make this donation possible,” said Whitlatch.
