The McLaren Proton Center (MPTC), part of the Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Flint, has again invested in the facility’s growth and operational enhancement with the addition of RayStation. Already the largest proton therapy center in the state, the RayStation planning platform from RaySearch will assist clinicians in selecting the most appropriate treatment for patients’ individualized plans.

RayStation provides the physician with a potential contingency plan, and also compares modalities to ensure the most appropriate proton therapy treatment is administered to the patient. To accomplish this, the platform uses the latest technologies in deep learning segmentation, image deformation, adaptive planning, and fallback planning.

“We continue to seek out partners who are innovative and offer technology that benefits patients by enhancing the quality of all aspects of their care,” said Vahagn Nazaryan, Ph.D., Executive Director of the McLaren Proton Therapy Center. “This new partnership enhances our patient-focused approach to all that we do.”

This represents the latest enhancement to the McLaren Proton Therapy Center, which was recently announced as the world’s first site scheduled to deliver proton therapy via the Leo Cancer Care upright treatment unit upon clearance of the technology by the FDA.

A partnership between Leo Cancer Care and RaySearch was also recently announced.

“We look forward to collaborating with the McLaren Proton Therapy Center on both conventional proton therapy and exciting new treatment approaches,” said Johan Löf, founder and CEO of RaySearch. “The recent partnership of RaySearch and Leo Cancer Care, and the implementation of RayStation in the McLaren center will enable its clinicians to fully utilize this technology.”

McLaren Proton Therapy Center’s expansion will double its capacity, with the addition of RayStation further enhancing operations.
