Welcome Angus Goetz, DO
Angus Goetz, DO, FAOAO, a board certified total joint and general orthopedic surgeon, joined McLaren Northern Michigan Orthopedics Services, located in the McLaren Medical Office Building on Mitchell Street in Petoskey.
Dr. Goetz’s passion for health care started at a young age. “One of my fondest childhood memories is accompanying my grandfather, an orthopedist, during his hospital rounds on the weekends,” he expressed. “I remember the gratitude the patients expressed to my grandfather for helping them get back to their daily activities. This had a major influence in my decision to pursue medicine.” In junior high and high school, Dr. Goetz continued his medical path by working as an orderly in metro Detroit during the school year and spending summers in Wyoming working on a large cattle ranch across from Yellowstone National Park.
A Michigan native, Dr. Goetz attended the University of Michigan for his undergraduate degree, where he also worked as an assistant in the Department of Human Genetics. He received his medical degree from Michigan State University (MSU) College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed his residency at Botsford General Hospital, and his fellowship at the Institute for Bone and Joint Disorders in Phoenix Arizona. Dr. Goetz specializes in joint replacement for shoulders, hips, knees and ankles and has training in minimally invasive reconstruction procedures.
Dr. Goetz chose to practice in Petoskey for many reasons. “Northern Michigan is a wonderful place to raise a family with outstanding school systems, athletic opportunities, endless recreational fun and a close-knit community,” said Dr. Goetz. “Also, McLaren Northern Michigan has an excellent reputation for providing outstanding and high-quality care.”
