Second interventional imaging unit added at McLaren Macomb

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich.—McLaren Macomb, part of the comprehensive McLaren Stroke Network, has added a second leading-edge imaging unit providing physicians with vivid and comprehensive images in order to efficiently perform minimally invasive interventional procedures. McLaren Macomb’s first bi-plane low-dose X-ray system was instrumental in achieving quality outcomes following interventional neurological procedures.

The second bi-plane unit has been added to meet the growing need for interventional procedures.

“Having an advanced imaging unit has been a tremendous asset to McLaren Macomb establishing itself as a local leader in precision neurological and cardiovascular interventional procedures,” said Tim Vargas, chief operating officer at McLaren Macomb. “The need to add a second unit to keep pace with our demand is a credit to the expertise and proficiency of our physicians and the enhanced outcomes our patients have come to expect.”

The high-quality images produced by the unit allows McLaren Macomb physicians to efficiently treat a higher volume of interventional patients and perform more complex stroke, cerebral aneurysm as well as other cardiac and peripheral vascular invasive procedures.

Additionally, the bi-plane emits lower doses of radiation – beneficial to both the patient and clinical team.

When first adding the bi-plane unit in 2016, McLaren Macomb committed to becoming the Macomb County leader in stroke care, joining the leading-edge TeleStroke telemedicine machine and neurointerventionalist on-call 24/7.

Since then, stroke care at McLaren Macomb has been recognized by The Joint Commission with an Advanced Certification as a Primary Stroke Center and the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association with Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Silver Plus and Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite awards.
