Clinical Instructor/Coordinator
Welcome to McLaren St. Luke’s. As a Clinical Instructor/Coordinator, you are an important part of the students’ educational experience. You will find the steps needed to support you in your instructional role at McLaren St. Luke’s, listed below.
Clinical Instructor Orientation (New and Annual)
- Instructor Orientation to the hospital must be completed prior to the instructor's first clinical and then annually. For dates, contact the Clinical Student Coordinator/Nursing Educator at McLaren St. Luke’s or your college/institution Clinical Coordinator.
- Submit the documents below to your college/institution seven to fourteen (7-14) days prior to your orientation:
- Required health documents
- Proof of flu shot (seasonal-Oct through Mar or as specified by the CDC)
- Proof of completed COVID-19 Vaccine
- Proof of current Health Insurance
- Certification of completion of background check
- Valid American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) CPR card (if applicable)
- Confirmation of viewing McLaren St. Luke’s Clinical and Non-Clinical Orientation Module, link below.
- IT Access Form, link below (if computer/EMR access is required)
- Print and complete the MedSelect User Form (link below) if access to the medication dispensing system is needed.
- New Instructors: Email a picture, similar to a passport picture, to the appropriate contact listed below for your ID badge a minimum of seven (7) days prior to your orientation. If you are unable to email a picture, you may stop in the McLaren St. Luke’s Human Resources department to have your picture taken. Your ID badge can be picked up on your orientation day.
- Contact your college/institution's Clinical Coordinator regarding the current mask and shield protocol.
School/Facility Requirements
Each school/facility must complete the School/Facility COVID Attestation Letter and the McLaren COVID School Employee Vaccination Roster annually. Once complete, turn in to the appropriate contact listed below. There is a link to the forms below.
Instructor and College/Institution Clinical Coordinator Duties for Students
- The information below needs to be submitted seven to fourteen (7-14) days prior to the start of the students' clinical at McLaren St. Luke’s:
- Verification of Required Documentation Statement (link below), which includes dates for the following:
- Required health vaccines/titers/tests
- Date of flu shot (seasonal-Oct through Mar or as specified by the CDC)
- Date of completed COVID-19 Vaccine
- Name of current Health Insurance
- Date of completion of criminal background check
- Valid American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) CPR card (if applicable)
- Date of confirmation of viewing McLaren St. Luke’s Clinical and Non-Clinical Orientation Module, link below, which covers McLaren St. Luke’s safety/infection control & prevention/HIPAA/Confidentiality/OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen Training/Code of Ethics/Standards of Conduct and relevant policies and procedures
- IT Access Form (if applicable)
- McLaren Student Agreement, link below
- Proof of Negative 9 or 10 Panel Drug Screening completed at admission to program, if not a program requirement, complete no more than sixty (60) days prior to first day at MSL

Note: In order to prevent the students first day being delayed, please be sure all completed paperwork is submitted to McLaren St. Luke’s no later than seven (7) days prior to the student’s first day at McLaren St. Luke’s.
