  • How does a Pediatric Hospitalist work with your Pediatrician?

Upon admission to McLaren Northern Michigan, your pediatrician may provide necessary information to the Pediatric Hospitalist about your child's condition. The Pediatric Hospitalist, with input from your pediatrician, provides a personalized medical plan that takes into account your child's individual medical history and his or her specific needs.

The Pediatric Hospitalist oversees your child's care, communicating frequently with other members of your child's healthcare team. Information is also available to your pediatrician to keep him/her informed of progress. Feel free to discuss concerns and ask questions with anyone on the staff.

The Pediatric Hospitalist and care coordination staff will make arrangements for your child's discharge from the Hospital, including prescriptions and follow-up appointments. The Pediatric Hospitalist will also provide information to your child's pediatrician to plan their future course of care to ensure a smooth transition.

How Can the Pediatric Hospitalist Benefit My Child?

Having a Pediatric Hospitalist is like having your pediatrician just down the hall from your child's room throughout his/her stay at McLaren Northern Michigan. If you or family members have any questions or concerns, the Pediatric Hospitalist is there to explain or respond in person to you and your family.

With access to every specialist and department within McLaren Northern Michigan, the Pediatric Hospitalist ensures timely follow-up on tests and treatments for your child. The result is the highest-quality care for your child.
