McLaren Oakland re-verified as Level II Trauma Center

Published on Wednesday, August 17, 2016

PONTIAC, Mich.—McLaren Oakland, the 328-bed acute care hospital in Pontiac, has earned re-verification as a Level II Trauma Center from the American College of Surgeons. Requiring regular re-verification, this achievement demonstrates the McLaren Oakland Emergency Department and Trauma Center’s dedication to providing exceptional care to injured patients.

McLaren Oakland’s re-verification—valid until September 2018—came following a thorough review from the Verification Review Committee, a subcommittee of the Committee on Trauma of the America College of Surgeons.

“This is an accomplishment we were incredibly proud of when we were first verified and are very pleased to be able to continue to provide this service to our community,” said Chad Grant, president and CEO of McLaren Oakland. “We are fortunate to have such a dedicated team of emergency physicians, surgeons, support staff and trauma services department. This accomplishment is a direct result of their commitment and effort.”

To achieve verified trauma level status, medical centers must meet the essential and rigorous criteria that ensure trauma care capabilities and institutional performance set forth by the American College of Surgeons—which includes having a trauma surgeon available within 15 minutes. While the Committee on Trauma does not designate trauma centers, it confirms their dedication and commitment to providing the highest quality trauma care for all injured patients.
