National Organization Recognizes Sleep Center in Cheboygan with Full Accreditation

sleep center staffMcLaren Northern Michigan – Cheboygan Campus Sleep Center has been accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). With this new recognition, all locations — Cheboygan, Petoskey, Gaylord, and Newberry are fully accredited. Significantly, AASM has consecutively accredited McLaren Northern Michigan since 2001. The Cheboygan Campus center began the accreditation process after opening in 2013.

With an estimated fifty to seventy million Americans suffering from sleep disorders, the business of diagnosis and treatment is serious, deadly serious. Accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine is the gold standard by which patients and referring physicians can measure the quality of a particular facility. Accredited sites are in compliance with a set of rigorous standards that measure evidence-based medical protocols, certified staff, licensing, and center environment. According to the AASM website ( “The Standards for Accreditation ensure that sleep medicine providers display and maintain proficiency in areas such as testing procedures and policies, patient safety and follow-up, and physician and staff training.” 

The four McLaren Northern Michigan Sleep Center locations are among the
1,800 AASM-accredited facilities nationwide. “Our Sleep Centers recognize the need
for diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders, and the most experienced and highly-qualified doctors and technicians staff convenient locations, so patients don’t need to travel far for state-of-the-art equipment and the latest treatment options,” expresses David Zechman, President and CEO of McLaren Northern Michigan.
