Lung Cancer Screening Patient Checklist

Lung Cancer Screening

Patient Checklist

Do I qualify for a lung cancer screening?

Lung cancer screening isn’t right for everyone. You are eligible for a low-dose CT lung cancer screening if you meet these criteria:

  • I am between 55 and 77 years of age … I am a current smoker or quit smoking within the last 15 years
  • I have smoked at least 30 pack years A pack year is defined as smoking an average of one pack of cigarettes per day for one year. A person can have a 30 pack year history by smoking one pack a day for 30 years or two packs a day for 15 years.
  • I have not had lung cancer and have no symptoms of lung cancer

If you meet these eligibility requirements, talk to your doctor about your risk for lung cancer and whether a screening test is right for you.

If you and your doctor determine that a screening is appropriate, ask your doctor to schedule a low-dose CT lung cancer screening at McLaren Lapeer Region by calling (810) 667-5990.
